Astro-Mice

Astro-Mice is a short documentary about the mice that are specifically bred for scientific examination in outer space.
Mice have always played a critically important role in advancing science—even when it comes to space experiments. Because of their size and short life span, it’s possible to do the equivalent of several human years of tests in a shortened amount of time. And because mice are fellow mammals, we share many common characteristics with humans in terms of genetics, biology, and behavior. As we seek to reach new planets, and specifically Mars, mice could very well lead the charge.
Mars is 586 times further away from Earth than the moon, and it will take between 180 to 220 days to reach Mars. That length of time in space opens the door to a host of potential health problems, including hormonal changes, and muscle and bone deterioration.
Astro-Mice is currently in pre-production.
